Our Family Secrets
Historical Background and Interesting Tidbits
by Jennifer (Bennett) Kindel
In an attempt to get back to his roots my husband Phil and I made a life-changing decision to move back east to Michigan where his family was from. So, packing all our belongings into a semi trailer truck we headed over the Rocky Mountains over two thousand miles and four days non-stop to Auburn, Michigan where his great greats used to have a farm or two. Two of his great uncles are listed in the local history books and we were pleased to see a photo of both of them posing in front of a tractor next to several other of the first residents of Auburn. In exploring his family heritage we also looked into mine.
There is no doubt that some of our ancestors were the first to settle in many areas throughout the United States.nbsp; We have been doing some exploring of our own ever since we settled here in Michigan. We've fought mosquitoes, raspberry bushes, mud and swamps to get the facts straight on where our families have been and where some of the descendents may still remain... It has been an exciting adventure of discovery that I hope to recount to all of you.
This adventure is not over. We still have many places and possible leads to explore and we are very much looking forward to finishing this task we've set out to do. We will update this website regularly.
Please feel free to write or e-mail either one of us with questions or leads that you may have. We will do our best to respond promptly. Enjoy learning about our family and I hope that this information will make you think and maybe cause you to crack a smile or laugh out loud at some of our family's antics. We look forward to hearing your feedback.
Sincerely,
Jennifer and Phil Kindel
